CONTOUR®NEXT Control Solution Level 2 Range is a glucose meter calibration solution designed to verify the accuracy of your CONTOUR®NEXT blood glucose meter and test strips. It simulates a normal blood sugar level and is ideal for routine checks, new test strip use, or when results appear inconsistent.

When should I perform control solution testing?

Control solution testing should be performed if one or more of the following scenarios occur:

  • When using your blood glucose meter for the first time.
  • Opening a new package of blood glucose test strips.
  • If you think your meter may not be working properly.
  • If you have repeated, unexpected blood sugar results.

"I recently retire my older Bayer meter and replaced it with the Contour NextGen meter and absolutely love the new meter and the app that keeps a great log of my daily fluctuations. Necessary products that are very often overlooked!

"As part of your daily diabetes care routine control solution is a very necessary product and is all too often overlooked! It is very important to make sure your blood glucose test strips and monitor are working properly. And I'm not referring to having a defective product either! I'm referring to the fact that you can forget to close the lid on your vial of test strips or fail to close it all the way! Exposing them to air and humidity! Or you may have dropped your monitor one too many times. Or you don't make sure to purchase your test strips only from a "TRUSTED" retailer, supplier or directly from Ascensia Diabetes Care's eStore, and you get questionable test strips that may not have been stored properly or not fresh! For all these reasons and many more, you need to check each vial of test strips with both Contour NEXT Level 1 and Level 2 control solutions! Testing ensures the accuracy of not only the particular lot of strips but also your monitor as well. Plus, it ensures your readings you get from your monitor are accurate, so you can take the proper dose of insulin or other medications! I only trust the entire line of Ascensia Diabetes Care Contour NEXT and Microlet NEXT blood glucose monitoring products to check my CGM! I check it at least daily, and many times more often and calibrate it accordingly! If when testing your blood glucose test strips and monitor you get a reading that is off and test another vial of strips with similar results, then you more than likely have a bad monitor. Unless the vials of strips are from the same Lot number and Production date. In either case I recommend calling Ascensia Diabetes Care's customer service for advice on the issue! They are extremely helpful, caring and understanding! The control solution is very easy to use! Just shake at least 15 times and put a small drop on a clean nonporous surface and insert a test strip into your monitor and touch the test strip to the drop of solution (DO NOT PUT THE DROPLET DIRECTLY ON THE TEST STRIP!) and let the strip pull it in. I always test each vial of strips to ensure accuracy! I'm pleased to say I always get reading right in the middle of the proper range for both Level 1 & 2 control solutions! I feel I get great reading all the time because I only purchase test strips through trusted retailers or my DME supplier for my insurance carrier as well as Ascensia Diabetes Care's eStore! So, I'm always getting fresh test strips! I only purchase the Control Solutions from trusted retailers and suppliers as well! I also appreciate that the Contour NEXT Control Solutions are "Made in U. S. A. "! I feel it ensures the quality and integrity of the solutions!"
