How do I set up my CONTOUR®NEXT GEN meter?

There are two ways you can set up your CONTOUR®NEXT GEN meter: 1) On the meter itself, or 2) By using the Contour™ Diabetes App. For instructions on initial setup from the meter itself, please refer to the User Guide that you received with your meter. To set up your meter from the app, please download the Contour™ Diabetes App. Once downloaded, open the app, and tap ‘Get Started’ to follow the instructions. This will set up the meter and app at the same time. For a step-by-step guide with visuals, please refer to our How-To Videos. If you need further assistance, our Customer Support team is readily available to help by phone, email, or chat function on our ascensiadiabetes.com website.

Does my CONTOUR®NEXT GEN meter have Bluetooth® connectivity?

Yes, every CONTOUR®NEXT GEN meter comes with Bluetooth® connectivity. When you start using your CONTOUR®NEXT GEN meter with the Contour™ Diabetes App, you will need to pair the two devices. The app and meter will then seamlessly connect and sync using Bluetooth® technology. The Bluetooth® setting on your mobile device and meter will need to be switched on for the pairing, and each time you test your blood glucose levels, so that the app can synchronize the reading. For more details on setting up Bluetooth®, please refer to the CONTOUR®NEXT GEN User Guide under the Resources section at the bottom of this page.

How do I use CONTOUR®NEXT Test Strips?

Using CONTOUR®NEXT Test Strips is simple. Follow these five simple steps:

  • Wash and dry your hands well before and after handling the test strips
  • Insert a CONTOUR®NEXT Test Strip into your meter's test strip port
  • Use our MICROLET®NEXT lancing device to get a tiny drop of blood from your fingertip
  • Gently touch the test strip to the blood drop until the meter beeps
  • Your blood glucose result will display on the screen in just a few seconds

How accurate are CONTOUR®NEXT Test Strips?

CONTOUR®NEXT Test Strips are designed with advanced technology to provide highly accurate results in seconds when used with a CONTOUR®NEXT meter.1, 4, 6, 7 They meet or exceed industry standards, delivering readings that are within ±10% of lab measurements. This means you can trust the readings to manage your diabetes effectively. For more detailed information on accuracy and performance, please refer to the Insert under the Resources section at the bottom of this page.

How do I know if I need to apply more blood to my test strip?

The Second-Chance® Sampling feature will cause your meter to beep twice and display a flashing test strip icon. Within 60 seconds, apply more blood to the test strip so there is enough for the meter to measure your blood glucose. Once you have added enough blood, the meter will automatically take a reading as usual.

What is Second-Chance® Sampling?

Second-Chance® Sampling is another useful feature of the CONTOUR®NEXT GEN meter3 and CONTOUR®NEXT ONE meters.7 If your initial blood sample is insufficient to take a blood glucose reading, Second-Chance® sampling allows you to apply more blood to the same test strip instead of using a new one. This can help you:

  • Avoid having to prick your finger again.2
  • Waste fewer test strips (and lancets).2

"I have used Contour Next One for years but this year my insurance would not pay for that brand. I ended up getting the Free Style Lite and HATED it for a number of reasons. So. . . I went back to my Contour Next that I still had. I ordered the test strips and lancets online. It was easy, even for me, and they were reasonably priced. The products arrived a day or two before I was expecting them. Now I'm happy with my Contour Next One setup for a number of reasons. The meter is easy to hold and well lit. The lancing device only requires a gentle touch on the button that will make it prick my finger. And, most important to me, the lancing device has a button to push to eject the used lancet so I don't have to touch it. I am so glad that I can use Contour Next for my blood sugar testing!!"

Good Test Results

"I've use the Contour Next Meter for years and I found the Meter to read as accurate as described by the company. I've ran several test form my Doctor doing my blood work and checking my blood sugar with the meter at the same time and getting only 3 too 5 points difference. I've also ran blood test with 3 of the Contour Next Meter's and 3 different lotments of test strips with 2 different lotments of the Contour Next Control Solution Level 2 and I tested 10 test strips from each of the 3 different lotments of test strips with each Meter and 10 test strips with each Control Solution using all the Meter's with each test. I found that the blood sugar readings to be within less than 10 points apart. To me that's a very close reading for that many strips changing them up with 3 different Meters and 2 different Control Solution's. I've never doubted how close my blood sugar readings were again."

Does the job, good price

"So far I have only used once but pretty easy. I am not a diabetic but wanted to track more often than once a year at doctors. I was afraid I would not be able to prick my own finger but the device they gave I succeeded, no problem.. There is plastic needles to switch out after each use. The strips are to be inserted into the monitor then tap to blood from finger prick. It beeps if it working or gives signal to add more blood. Should do after 8 hours of fasting. Which I did not but my reading was same range as doctors office 120. I will do this once per month. Lots of features on device to retain results. I did buy extra strips."
