How do I use CONTOUR®NEXT Test Strips?

Using CONTOUR®NEXT Test Strips is simple. Follow these five simple steps:

  • Wash and dry your hands well before and after handling the test strips
  • Insert a CONTOUR®NEXT Test Strip into your meter's test strip port
  • Use our MICROLET®NEXT lancing device or an alternative to get a tiny drop of blood from your fingertip
  • Gently touch the test strip to the blood drop until the meter beeps
  • Your blood glucose result will display on the screen in just a few seconds

How accurate are CONTOUR®NEXT Test Strips?

CONTOUR®NEXT Test Strips are designed with advanced technology to provide highly accurate results in seconds when used with a CONTOUR®NEXT meter.1, 4, 6, 7 They meet or exceed industry standards, delivering readings that are within ±10% of lab measurements. This means you can trust the readings to manage your diabetes effectively. For more detailed information on accuracy and performance, please refer to the Insert under the Resources section at the bottom of this page.

How do I know if I need to apply more blood to my test strip?

The Second-Chance® Sampling feature will cause your meter to beep twice and display a flashing test strip icon. Within 60 seconds, apply more blood to the test strip so there is enough for the meter to measure your blood glucose. Once you have added enough blood, the meter will automatically take a reading as usual.

What is the benefit of No Coding® technology?

No Coding® technology eliminates the need for manual calibration or entering a code before testing. Each lot of test strips contain embedded calibration information in the strip pattern itself. When a test strip is inserted, the meter automatically reads this information and calibrates accordingly.

Easy & great prices

"I was told by my healthcare insurance that I had to use a Contour Next for my blood glucose testing . After getting the meter ,which I got for free , I checked the copay for the test strips through my plan & found that they were twice the price of what I would pay on my own if I bought them directly from Ascensia , the same for the lancets . The best part was they were delivered to me in2 days . Needless to say I found my new supplier for my testing supplies. The meter is small , very accurate and easy to use & the test strips require a very small sample of blood ."

Contour Strips GOOD / Medicare Coverage BAD

"Since I had the Eversense 365 sensor imbedded in my arm, I rely on the Contour Next strips to calibrate it weekly [at minimum] and whenever my glucose is rapidly rising or falling [and the meter mandates that I don't use my CGM for insulin gauging, but to instead, use my BGM]. Sadly, Medicare has disapproved the coverage of any BGM test strips when one has a CGM for monitoring. We need Contour to call Medicare and lobby for a change. I can wish . . ."

"I have been using Ascensia Contour Next test strips for many years. I have found that they are easy to find and very accurate. If I have a number out range of what I think it should be, my immediate second test almost always gives me close to the same number. On the rare occasion it doesn't, it usually means I did not follow all the steps to take the reading correctly, and not the strip being defective. I have tried many brands, and used many apps.
